So my two favorite bands are Saosin and A Skylit Drive. Though they are two totally different bands from one another, they are the same in many ways.
Saosin is a Post-Hardcore/Emo band from Newport, California. Their songs usually revolve around problems a normal person goes through in their life (loneliness, rejection, losing themselves). The two guitarists, Beau Burchell and Justin Shekoski, harmonize very good with their duet playing. While Beau is lead and Justin is rhythm, they usually both do a great job at keeping the song going. The verses of Saosin songs tend to focus around Alex Rodriquez, the drummer. His mid tempoed beat keeps the song up to beat throughout the whole time. While hes playing, Cove Reber, the singer with the incredible voice sings. There are usually occaisional strums by either one of the guitarists and the bassists plucks a string every once in a while. Then all of a sudden you're hit by a strong chorus with everyone at work. Alex is crashing onto each piece of the drum set with all his strength and speed. Changing beats constantly but still keeping the rhythm going. Also in the guitar, Justin plays his brutal powerchords/muted chords while Beau's playing his lead part on a higher octave adding more emotion to the song. The bassist, Chris Sorenson, uses various bass techniques to keep up with the rest of the band. His bass and Cove's singing fall short of each other by a couple octaves making a perfect song. Theyre also very good live. Though sometimes they haveta change their guitar parts up a little, it still makes a very good live performance. Cove's voice is just perfect both live and digitally. The old singer was Anthony Green (now in Circa Survive) and he was very spectacular too, adding his own little vintage style to the band when he was in it. I honestly think Cove is a lot better than Anthony, but theres many other Saosin fans that will disagree with me.
I found out about this band March 2007 and immediately loved it. Their debut Album was the one i fell in love with and had my friend Paul buy it as soon as possible off iTunes (he had a giftcard). This is one of the only albums i bought on itunes and i do NOT regret it. Every single song touches me and I literally love every single song on this album. Their new album is to come out Early 2009 and I know that it'll be just as good as the first one. Saosin has helped me out though a lot of hard times and I know they'll continue to do so. Keep it up guys.
My second favorite band (or first in the screamo genre) is A Skylit Drive. I started listening to these guys November 2007 and at first I was iffy about them. The first song i loved by them is A Reason For Broken Wings from their Debut EP, She Watched The Sky. This EP's main theme revolved around a person going to war and not coming back. After A Reason For Broken Wings, i started liking The Past The Love The Memories, which is the main tear jerking song off this EP. Then Paul told me to try out Hey Nightmare, Where'd You Get Them Teeth. This is a longer song at 5 minutes and the first couple minutes never appealed to me as much as the ending breakdown where the two guitarists, Nick and Joey slam down on power chords with Kyle in the background with the piano while Jordan screams his heart out with the help of bassist Brian. In the background, my favorite asset to the band, Cory La Quay on the drums. He's a double bass god going at speeds passed others. His double bass techniques add the strongest emotion to A Skylit Drive's songs. This band uses basic guitar techniques just crashing on power chords and muted chords. The singing of Jordan Blake was high and his screams were majorly intense. He left the band in February or so and was replaced by Michael Jagmin. Jagmin has a very high singing voice as well but cant scream. So he is helped out by the bassist, Brian. A Skylit Drive releases their new full length Album, Wires...And The Concept of Breathing on Tuesday may 20th. I already have the album thanks to a few sources and I truely love it. It's way better than their old album. There arent as many screams as before but they still kept their infamous duo-guitar/keyboard/double bass breakdowns. Brian's screams are a lot stronger than Jordan's were so theyre a lot better. This band helps me out when I'm mad. They help me get through challenges (such as hopping this one fence yesterday) and they also make me happy with their newer songs. Though their songs dont take too much effort to play, it takes a whole lot to understand. The lyrics are truely deep and decoding them will take a while. A Skylit Drive, though new to the screamo scene, is definetly a band that'll keep going.
These two bands have helped me out a lot. Saosin for when I'm sad or depressed and A Skylit Drive for when I'm mad or challenged. I love both of their music and I hope I'll continue to be with them throughout their future ventures. Good luck to both of them at whatever they do, but i'm positive they dont need my luck. If you'd like to try out a band thats different then what you usually hear, listen to Saosin or A Skylit Drive =].

Whoah, you posted this semi long ago, so I'm late, but I'll go ahead and comment anyways.
I'm so depressed now because a few months ago when Saosin wasn't really that "known" I was invited to one of their concerts nearish Berkeley... but I didn't go because I had a forensics tournament and because I'm a nerd :(
So unfair, now that I know what they sound like.
